Minnesota Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Awards Announcement

In anticipation of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Annual Meeting taking place Nov. 21-23 in Minnetonka, the organization is pleased to announce several award winners from across the state.

The MFBF Annual Meeting brings together the organization’s grassroots membership to surface and discuss issues facing agriculture, along with general organization updates, educational opportunities and networking.

There is also a link with photos of all the award winners. Photos of honorees receiving their awards at the MFBF Annual Meeting will also be made available post-event (Nov. 23). The Distinguished Service Award, an award that recognizes an individual whose work has made a significant impact on agriculture in our state, will be awarded to three individuals:

  • Jerry Hammer, Former CEO of the Minnesota State Fair
  • John Hart, Former USDA Wildlife Services Supervisor
  • Tom Rothman, Former Director of Government and Agriculture Outreach for the University of Minnesota Extension

The Honorary Life Award, an award that recognizes long-time Farm Bureau members for dedicated service to their county, their community, and Minnesota agriculture, will be awarded to five individuals:

  • Bernard “Bernie” Aronson, Lincoln County
  • Jerry and Lori Beckel, Le Sueur County
  • Al and Diane Christopherson, Kandiyohi County

Katie Emmett of Sleepy Eye FFA will be recognized as the FFA Advisor of the Year. Read more.

Nick Schiltz, the Lead Agricultural Instructor and Program Coordinator at Riverland Community College in Austin will be recognized as the Post-Secondary Agriculture Educator of the Year. Read More.
