Oklahoma State University has secured a historic $250 million in state appropriations to fund the construction of a new veterinary teaching hospital. The allocation marks the largest single appropriation in the university’s history and is considered a major advancement in veterinary education, food security, and public health for Oklahoma.
The new facility, spanning 255,000 square feet, will replace an older 145,000-square-foot hospital originally designed for 60 students, which currently serves more than 150.
“Today marks a very historic day for Oklahoma State University and the entire state,” said OSU President Jim Hess. “State leaders are to be congratulated for their contribution and transformational dedication to our College of Veterinary Medicine, the food supply, and the agricultural economy of our state.”
The project addresses urgent infrastructure needs and enhances OSU’s ability to train the next generation of veterinary professionals, an industry that’s short-staffed nation-wide.
