The Senate wrapped at midday by narrowly passing its version of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” with Vice President Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. The bill now heads back to the House, where it will face scrutiny from conservative Republicans frustrated with changes made since last month’s passage.

Markets responded with mixed emotions. Soybeans bore the brunt of the pressure, reacting sharply to the uncertainty surrounding the legislation. Weather remains a wildcard, with forecasts shifting from hot and dry to a more scattered rain pattern over the next 10 days across much of the country east of the Rockies.

Cattle markets took a notable hit, closing sharply lower as traders weighed policy uncertainty and demand signals heading into the long holiday stretch.
