WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins today announced the phased, risk-based reopening of select southern ports for cattle, bison, and equine imports from Mexico, set to resume as early as July 7, 2025.
R-CALF USA CEO Bill Bullard issued the following statement on Secretary Rollins’ announcement of the phased reopening of the southern border:
“We support Secretary Rollins and appreciate her swift, decisive response to the screwworm outbreak. However, we believe the border should remain closed until Mexico has fully eradicated screwworm within its borders.”
