WEST FARGO, N.D. – The annual Big Iron Farm Show returns Sept. 9-11 to the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, N.D., and farmer leaders from both the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) and the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) will be on hand to visit with farmers about everything from agronomic issues to trade to new soy innovations.

“Big Iron provides a great opportunity to visit face-to-face with producers throughout our northwest Minnesota region, who grow quite a bit of soybeans, about issues that are important to them,” said MSGA Secretary Kyle Jore, who farms near Thief River Falls. “They need to know we are fighting for them and doing what we can to address the many challenges they are facing.”

To help support MSGA in their efforts to be a voice for farmers in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., MSGA directors will be selling tickets for a chance to win an 8×17’ Ice Castle Mille Lacs edition fish house, which will be on the fairgrounds as well. Tickets are just $100, and the winner will be revealed at the 2026 MN Ag Expo in Mankato (attendance isn’t necessary to win).

Joining Jore at Big Iron from MSGA will be Directors Rebecca Sip from Norman County, Jeremy Tischer from Clay-Wilkin and Jim Kukowski from Roseau-Lake of the Woods. Farmer leaders representing the MSR&PC will be both District 1, 2 & 3 Directors, Corey Hanson and Bill Zurn. Mike Youngerberg, MSR&PC’s senior director of product development & commercialization, will also be in the booth to discuss the latest value-added products from the soy checkoff.

“Being as we’re getting close to harvest, it’s a good time to have those conversations with farmers about the issues they’ve faced from the past year, whether that be pests or disease,” said Hanson. “In return, we can talk about the current research projects we’re supporting through their checkoff dollars.”

To aid in those conversations about research and agronomy, University of Minnesota researchers Angie Peltier, Anthony Hanson and Lindsay Pease will also be spending time in the MSR&PC booth to talk with producers.

Find MSGA and MSR&PC in booths C9 & C10 inside the Expo Center at the Big Iron Farm Show Sept. 9-11.
