RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – Novonesis Plant Health is evolving to help ensure it is providing effective, convenient biological solutions for retailers, seed treaters and farmers by introducing Prescriptive Biosolutions by Novonesis.
Recognizing on-farm challenges cannot be solved by a one-size-fits-all approach, Novonesis is offering flexible approaches for product offerings and application methods.
“There is a lot of noise in the biologicals market; we want to be deliberate with our approach to ensure success of retailers, seed treaters and farmers,” said Nocha Van Thielen, regional marketing manager, plant health, Novonesis. “We know a one-size-fits-all solution does not work for our customers, and we are dedicated to delivering solutions that can be tailored to fit their specific needs.”
Tested in 2025 and new for seed treaters in 2026 is the ProPort System, designed to be a more effective way to inoculate seed. This application system easily integrates with existing seed treatment processes to allow treaters to apply different combinations of products to address specific on-farm challenges.
The ProPort System increases seed treatment flexibility and accuracy with an expanded window of application, while ensuring inoculants remain sterile. Now, seed treaters have up to 14 days to use opened rhizobia products, compared to the industry standard of 24 hours. The system is designed to reduce waste, and it is easily scalable to a seed treaters’ specific needs and current seed treating equipment.
Given the wide use of inoculants on soybeans, the ProPort System provides an opportunity for retailers and seed treaters to tailor biological technologies to their specific local agronomic conditions. This allows them to apply their expertise to offer the best possible solutions for farmers.
“The ProPort System is a new offering, but it’s really about optimizing what we can do with technologies that are already being widely used by growers,” said Jon Treloar, senior technical agronomist, Novonesis. “We want to look at on-farm challenges and bring together specific complex technologies to help farmers be successful.”
“Let’s say there is a heavy rainfall in an area. The ProPort System allows seed treaters to stop the application process and resume later when conditions allow,” said Treloar. “In the past, we would have needed to discard the product and open a new package when treatment resumed. This is one specific example of how we’re able to cut waste and save time.”
The Prescriptive Biosolutions approach extends beyond inoculants as Novonesis offers multiple products to help promote early-season growth and stress tolerance. This includes products that contain signaling technology to help stimulate growth, nodulation enhancing abilities to enhance nitrogen fixation and soil phosphorus solubilization to improve uptake.
Novonesis offers a robust lineup of soybean solutions, starting with trusted rhizobia products like Optimize® FXC DS and Cell-Tech® XC. To boost yield performance, NodPro® and Cue® optimize nodulation, while JumpStart® improves phosphorus availability and uptake. These products are known for their proven performance and results, and they come backed by extensive data on insights from a pioneer in agricultural biosolutions.
The ProPort System allows seed treaters to apply the precise amounts of these technologies directly to the seed. It will be available to retailers and seed treaters for the upcoming season along with a line of products to help tailor solutions to meet farmers’ specific needs.
