(JAMESTOWN, N.D.) – Establishing a long-range plan for the ownership of a family’s farm or ranch is the focus of two separate one-day workshops on succession planning being held Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Dickinson at the Stark/Billings County Extension Office and another on Friday, Feb. 27, in Devils Lake at Lake Region State College’s Hofstad Ag Center. The free educational workshops are being hosted by North Dakota Farmers Union in partnership with NDSU Extension.
Participants in “Design Your Succession Plan” workshops will learn how to start and sustain discussions with family members about future ownership and start the process of developing a succession plan. They also will learn how to choose and prepare to work with legal and financial professionals to implement a viable plan.
Workshops run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch provided. Space is limited. To participate, register at ndfu.org or thru the NDFU app. For more information, call 800-366-6338 or email amcclean@ndfu.org.
