Bayer Crop Science continues to lead the industry in research and development investment, with a strong pipeline of soybean innovations aimed at expanding weed control options and protecting yield potential. Among the upcoming technologies is Vyconic™, a fourth-generation soybean trait package planned for introduction in 2027. Vyconic would be the first soybean trait in the industry tolerant to five herbicides, adding 2,4-D and mesotrione to the existing glyphosate, glufosinate and dicamba tolerances found in XtendFlex® Technology. Bayer says the trait is designed not only to improve broadleaf weed control and resistance management, but also to support increased yield potential across the deepest Asgrow® maturity portfolio yet.
Also in development is Convintro™ herbicide, expected for the 2026 season pending EPA approval. Convintro is positioned as a new tool for managing resistant Palmer amaranth and waterhemp in both corn and soybeans and can be used for burndown and pre-emergence applications. Looking further ahead, Bayer’s HT5 herbicide tolerance technology represents a fifth-generation platform offering tolerance to six herbicides, including glyphosate, glufosinate, dicamba, 2,4-D, mesotrione and PPO, giving farmers even more flexibility in tackling grass and broadleaf weeds while protecting yield.
