RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – On Friday, BASF received notice from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of federal registration for Engenia® herbicide for over the top (OTT) applications on dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton. This new registration enables American soybean and cotton farmers with an additional tool to battle weeds that are increasingly resistant to other herbicides.

“We are excited growers will once again have access to Engenia herbicide,” said Scott Kay, Vice President, BASF Agricultural Solutions U.S. “This registration will give soybean and cotton farmers doing the biggest job on Earth an additional tool to control more than 200 weed species and maximize their yields. We appreciate the EPA’s science- and risk-based process, using the latest data available, to grant this new registration.”

Using an exclusive BAPMA Salt Formulation, Engenia herbicide is the most powerful trait-enabled knockdown solution available for dicamba-tolerant crops, delivering consistent knockdown performance against tough to control and resistant broadleaf weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, kochia, morning glory and ragweed.

Stewardship is a critical component of any pesticide registration, and BASF continues to work with the EPA and state agencies to create national and state-specific training materials. The company will offer a suite of training options to ensure farmers and applicators understand the new Engenia herbicide label requirements.

“Helping farmers and applicators understand these new label requirements and proper application techniques is something we take very seriously,” said Nick Fassler, Director, Technical Service, BASF Agricultural Solutions U.S. “Engenia herbicide is a critical tool for cotton and soybean farmers and one of the main ways to ensure this technology remains a tool in the tool box is to ensure farmers and applicators understand how to apply the product according to the label.”
