North Dakota Ag Commissioner Goehring announces APUC awards funding

BISMARCK, N.D. – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) awards for five projects. The awards totaling $398,821.25 were approved at the APUC quarterly meeting Feb. 26 in Bismarck.

APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture that administers grant programs for research and development of new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products which support the development of concepts and products that support our rural communities and agriculture operations. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature-based agritourism, prototype and technology and technical assistance.

The following received approval:

FOMO 10/40 Creamery received $99,800 to hire a marketing firm for branding of their ice cream. Contact Andrew Hershey at 701-681-0116.

Kate’s Poperella LLC received $42,581.25 to establish a commercial kitchen for baked goods. Contact Matthew Ekren at 701-500-9525.

PermanentFarming Inc dba Pergena received $183,750 to study how manure can be reliably converted into renewable energy and other products. Contact Steve Polski at 651-359-4776.

Applications for the next meeting must be received by April 1, 2026.
