Washington, D.C. (April 20, 2026) – National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) CEO Sam Kieffer has joined the Center for American Food Power’s Food Power Council. The Center for American Food Power (CAFP) is a nonpartisan think tank supported by U.S. agriculture and policy leaders to advance a domestic agri-food strategy aligned with national security priorities.
“Most everyone agrees that food security is national security. And there have been significant, undeniable shifts in geo-political alliances, trade loyalties, and the technology used in agriculture, national defense and commerce,” said Sam Kieffer, NAWG CEO. “I’m honored to join this group of strategic thinkers to consider some of the most complex challenges as we build a stronger, more resilient U.S. food system.”

The CAFP, founded by Brett Sciotto, Ray Starling, general counsel for the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce and former White House policy adviser, and Greg Somerhalder, partner and executive advisor for Idealyst Innovation and former Farm Credit executive, is as a nonpartisan platform for strategic analysis, cross-sector coordination and policy framework development with the goal of positioning U.S. agriculture for long-term resilience, competitiveness and geopolitical relevance.
