BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota Beef Commission brought sports nutrition expert Amy  Goodson, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, to college campuses across the state Aug. 18–21 as part of its  Powered by Beef programming. Goodson connected with more than 500 student-athletes and  more than 90 coaches, faculty members, athletic trainers and other athletic personnel at North  Dakota State University, University of Jamestown, Dickinson State University, Bismarck State  College, and the University of Mary.

With more than 18 years of experience in sports nutrition, Goodson has worked with athletes at  the collegiate and professional levels, including TCU Athletics, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas  Rangers, FC Dallas and numerous PGA Tour players.

During her visits, Goodson discussed practical strategies for fueling before, during and after  training and competition. She emphasized the importance of consistent fueling schedules,  adequate recovery nutrition and building balanced meals that provide athletes with the  carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals they need to support their training.

Beef was an important part of the conversation, with Goodson highlighting beef as a high-quality  protein source that can fit into a balanced sports nutrition plan. The presentations focused on how  athletes can incorporate beef alongside other nutrient-dense foods to build meals and snacks that  support their individual training and performance needs.

The visit was designed not only for student-athletes, but also for the coaches, athletic trainers,  faculty and other professionals who influence athletes’ daily routines and nutrition habits. By  providing practical sports nutrition education to both athletes and those who support them, the  program helps extend that information beyond a single presentation and into athletic programs  across the state.

The collegiate visits are part of the North Dakota Beef Commission’s ongoing Powered by Beef  programming, which brings beef and nutrition education to college athletes and other audiences  across North Dakota. The program is designed to provide practical information about beef’s  nutritional benefits while helping consumers understand how beef can be incorporated into a  balanced diet.

The North Dakota Beef Commission works on behalf of beef farmers and ranchers across the  state to grow demand for beef. By focusing on consumer trust, education, promotion, and  research, we connect people to beef and the families who raise it. Learn more at  www.ndbeef.org
