ALEXANDRIA, VA – March 19, 2026 – Educational flyers providing details to spray drone operators and their customers on licensing, regulatory and insurance requirements, in addition to best management practices, are now available in an effort to ensure compliance and professionalism in the spray drone industry.

The spray drone operator flyer is online at https://www.agaviation.org/UAAS-flyer-operator-pdf. This lists the licenses, certificates, registration and insurance requirements that spray drone operators must fulfil in order to be in compliance, in addition to equipment testing, and educational and best management practices that should be followed to ensure a professional operation.

The spray drone operations’ customer flyer is online at https://www.agaviation.org/UAAS-flyer-customer-pdf. This outlines those same requirements and practices to best ensure they are contracting with a professional spray drone service and address their liability.

Both flyers include QR codes that, when scanned, lead to the webpage https://www.agaviation.org/education/uaas/, which includes links providing additional details and contacts to ensure compliance and professionalism.

The flyers were developed by the Uncrewed Aerial Application Systems Committee of the National Agricultural Aviation Association (NAAA). The committee members are stakeholders in the drone and/or aerial application space, including representatives of aviation insurance, spray drone manufacturers, spray drone distributors, avionics manufacturers, spray drone operators, universities, government agencies, and manned and hybrid aerial application operators.

The flyers are being distributed through an extensive network of individuals and organizations to ensure they reach their intended targets: spray drone operators and customers of spray drone operators. This includes providing the materials to spray drone manufacturers and distributors for inclusion in spray drone packaging. In addition, the flyers are being provided to numerous government agencies in agriculture, pesticide enforcement and aviation, enabling these officials to further disseminate the information to spray drone customers and spray drone operations.

The flyers are intended to promote industry-wide compliance with regulatory and insurance requirements and to increase awareness of industry-wide knowledge of best management practices. Together, these efforts ensure safe and environmentally professional operations of the young and burgeoning spray drone industry.
