The American Farm Bureau Federation has extended the nomination deadline for its 2026 Farm Dog of the Year Contest to July 25. Now in its eighth year, the contest honors hard-working farm dogs and the valuable support they provide to farmers and ranchers.
The top prize includes $5,000 in cash and a year’s supply of Purina Pro Plan dog food. The winning farm dog will be honored during a special awards ceremony at the American Farm Bureau Convention, scheduled for January 2026 in Anaheim, California.
“Farm dogs play an important role on the farm or ranch and hold a special place in our hearts,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “They show up every day without complaint and are eager to pitch in.”
To enter, participants must submit written responses to a series of questions about their farm dog. All nominations must be received by the new July 25 deadline to be eligible for consideration.
