Outside market pressure played a bigger role in ag trade to start the week. Month-end positioning, macroeconomic uncertainty, and tariff tension with Brazil weighed on cattle futures. Recent rains are improving pasture conditions, prompting talk of increased cow and heifer retention. While last week’s USDA reports remain in focus, the bright spot is continued strength in the cash cattle market and a 4% year-over-year increase in beef consumption—offering optimism amid the noise.
