BISMARCK, N.D. – The State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, jointly administered by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority, awarded six loans in August to support critical water infrastructure.

  • West Fargo was awarded an $8.5 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan and a $2.7 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan to remodel and add onto its public works facilities, which support water, sewer and stormwater services for residents.
  • Grafton received a $2.6 million DWSRF loan to replace asbestos cement water main with PVC, which will reduce the number of failures and provide safe, reliable drinking water to residents.
  • Jamestown was granted a $5.8 million DWSRF loan to begin replacing 229 known lead service lines. This project will reduce a potential source of lead in drinking water.
  • Kenmare was awarded a $638,000 DWSRF loan to replace cast-iron water main with PVC, reducing the frequency of breaks and providing safe, reliable drinking water to residents.
  • Minot received a $3.2 million DWSRF loan to replace cast-iron water mains in the Dacotah Homes Addition and along 2nd Ave SW and 11th Ave NW. This will reduce breaks and improve water quality issues.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF Programs funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.

Loans are awarded to projects listed on the NDDEQ project priority list based on project eligibility and repayment ability. Please contact the NDDEQ regarding specific detail on any of the projects mentioned above.
