NORTH DAKOTA – The ability to move millions of pounds of food safely and efficiently in the Great Plains Food Bank’s new statewide distribution center will soon be a reality thanks to a $150,000 investment from the Chevron Corporation. Their gift will provide essential equipment to ensure the facility will be ready to meet the growing need for hunger relief across North Dakota and Clay County, MN.

Chevron’s gift will fund critical equipment including stand-up electric forklifts, pallet jacks, industrial scales, and other tools necessary for safe and efficient operations within the new facility. These investments will strengthen the food bank’s ability to distribute more than 13 million pounds of food each year to neighbors experiencing hunger.

“We are proud to support the Great Plains Food Bank as they take this important step forward. Investing in the new distribution center ensures families across North Dakota have reliable access to food, and it reflects our long-standing commitment to strengthening the communities where we live and work,” said Michael Bast, Regional Director of North Dakota, Chevron.

The new statewide distribution center represents a transformational step forward for the Great Plains Food Bank. The larger facility will expand capacity to store and distribute food, enhance the volunteer space, and create room for future growth in programs and services.

“We are so grateful for Chevron’s leadership and commitment to ending hunger,” shared Marcia Paulson, Chief Philanthropy Officer. “This generous investment prepares us to run at full strength once operations begin in our new statewide distribution center. This equipment allows us to move food faster, safer, and more efficiently, which ultimately ensures families in every community across our service area have access to the nourishment they need.”

The $150,000 gift from Chevron comes as the Great Plains Food Bank continues its work to fund and equip its new statewide distribution center, a cornerstone of its mission to end hunger together.
