Washington, D.C. – Last week, Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE), Sharice Davids (D-KS), Tracey Mann (R-KS), and Troy Carter (D-LA) introduced the Securing America’s Fuels (SAF) Act, H.R. 6518, bipartisan legislation that would restore the full value of the tax credit and extend the entire 45Z tax credit through 2033. Members of the SAF Coalition issued the following statements of support.

Airlines for America:

“U.S. airlines are grateful to Representatives Flood, Davids, Carter, and Mann for introducing legislation that would restore and extend the full 45Z tax credit. This will stimulate private sector investment in SAF while also bolstering American energy dominance. This credit is a win-win for both the aviation and agriculture industries, supporting U.S. job growth across the country.”

American Carbon Alliance:

The American Carbon Alliance (ACA) applauds Reps. Mike Flood (NE-01), Sharice Davids (KS-03), Troy Carter (LA-02), and Tracey Mann (KS-01) for championing bipartisan legislation to strengthen Section 45Z and provide long-term certainty for clean fuel producers. The Securing America’s Fuels Act reinstates the higher $1.75 credit rate for sustainable aviation fuel and extends the credit to 2033, two critical components needed to accelerate investment and secure new demand for American-grown biofuels.

“Restoring the full 45Z credit and extending it to 2033 gives farmers and producers the certainty they’ve been missing, and it opens the door to new aviation markets. That means more demand, stronger prices, and real economic growth in rural America. The ACA strongly supports bipartisan efforts that ensure agriculture remains the backbone of America’s energy future.”

—Tom Buis, ACA, CEO

Boeing:

“Boeing welcomes the introduction of The Securing America’s Fuels Act. This bipartisan legislation aligns with our strategy to enable responsible growth in aviation, where increasing the supply of SAF complements other measures like designing and building a new generation of fuel-efficient airplanes.”

Darling:

“America has always led the way. And now it’s time to lead a new industry – sustainable aviation fuel. This is about jobs, innovation and securing our energy future. If we’re not at the table, others will write the rules. We’re ready to show what America can deliver – and smart policy will make it happen.”

—Shelby Neal, Vice President of Renewables and Energy Policy, Darling Ingredients

Delta:

“Delta applauds Reps. Flood (R-NE), Davids (D-KS), Mann (R-KS) and Carter (D-LA) for their leadership in introducing the Securing America’s Fuels Act, which will ensure 45Z reaches its full potential and provides the critical investment certainty necessary to bring additional SAF production facilities online to meet our industry’s unprecedented demand for cost-competitive, homegrown fuels.”

—Cherie Wilson, Vice President, Government Affairs – Sustainability, Delta Air Lines

GBTA:

“GBTA strongly supports the passage of the SAF Act. This bill will improve economic growth and lower costs for consumers and business travelers over time. We appreciate your leadership in advancing practical, pro-growth climate and energy solutions for aviation.”

—Suzanne Neufang, CEO, GBTA

Gevo:

“Domestic demand for jet fuel continues to rise, and policy can help support investment in new facilities needed to produce cost-competitive alcohol-to-jet synthetic aviation fuel (SAF) to meet this demand. Gevo thanks U.S. Reps. Sharice Davids (KS), Mike Flood (NE), Troy Carter (LA), and Tracey Mann (KS), for prioritizing SAF by introducing the Securing America’s Fuels Act to help accelerate solutions that increase American energy production – and grow rural and farm economies. The Securing America’s Fuels Act reflects ongoing bipartisan support for building a durable future for domestic jet fuel production that leverages the strength of U.S. agriculture by restoring the full value of the SAF credit and extending the 45Z credit through 2033.”

—Lindsay Fitzgerald, Chief Public Affairs Officer, Gevo

Twelve:

“Turning American feedstocks into American-made SAF is how we strengthen our energy independence and fuel U.S. innovation. Restoring the full SAF credit keeps this critical industry growing here at home.”

—Nicholas Flanders, Co-Founder and CEO, Twelve

United:

“United is grateful for the leadership of Representatives Mike Flood, Sharice Davids, Tracey Mann, and Troy Carter in introducing the “Securing America’s Fuels (SAF) Act”, which will help to ensure that the U.S. remains the world’s leading producer of SAF and other clean fuels, while also creating a huge market opportunity for U.S. farmers and feedstock producers. Extending the credit’s duration and guaranteeing its full value are pivotal policy actions that would accelerate domestic SAF production, strengthen U.S. energy and climate leadership, and reinforce America’s position as the world’s most competitive producer of cleaner, lower-carbon jet fuel.”

—Tom Michels, Director of Government Affairs, United Airlines
