BISMARCK – Applications are now being accepted for two grant programs administered by the North Dakota Crop Protection Product Harmonization and Registration Board. The board administers grant programs to agriculture groups interested in addressing issues related to the registration of crop protection products.

“The board prioritizes crop protection product labeling needs and looks for opportunities to make more crop protection product options available to agriculture producers in the state,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “We encourage interested agriculture groups interested to apply.”

There are two grant programs available:·

  • The Minor Use Pesticide Fund Grant Program may be used for conducting or commissioning evaluations, studies or investigations to obtain or maintain pesticide registration for minor crop minor use or other use in North Dakota. Pesticide manufacturers, dealers or distributors are not eligible. Qualified universities, the USDA or private researchers or laboratories are eligible for funding.·
  • The Pesticide Harmonization Grant Program may be used to address issues related to the registration of crop protection products. Special emphasis will be given to applications that address harmonization or pesticide labeling and availability of Canadian pesticides that are identical or substantially similar to more expensive US-registered pesticides.

Goehring said proposal request documents for both programs, along with procedures and more information can be found on NDDA’s website: https://www.ndda.nd.gov/cropharmonization.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday, March 19, 2026, for consideration at the April 2026 meeting of the board. Full instructions to submit applications is available at the above web address.

Goehring said persons needing more information should contact Lilliann Johnston at 701-328-2980 or lfjohnston@nd.gov.
